The beginning of it

It started all in a sudden! I emailed some of my old friends asking about few incidents happend in the past. Almost all of them replied promptly... and they had some funny replies! It started from there, we started to talk about our old days where we were staying together and sharing accomodation. All in a sudden this idea popped up to start blog them. I will post some of the replies to start off... and I hope with the boys we will grow it with our old gold experiences!!!

Just to give a brief background of the characters here: we came to Australia from Bangladesh as international students and we were young - 19/20 years in average (talking about back in 2000). Coming oversease to stay by ourselves was a thrilling dream to us, but never the less, the reality turned out to be harsher than we thought. And we had to face lots of difficulties during almost the whole student life in Australia. And just to mention here that, most of us never lived outside our home by ourselves - so u can call us spoiled lad by the care of the parents. Then, all in a sudden, living outside the comfort zone - and worrying about income, study, bills, rents - everything flooded at once - too unexperienced and too hard to stand at ease...
Well, thats all story now and most of these letters will be based on our struggling life and few glitches of fun here and there.

By the way, I am using there nick names here (given by me, they dont even know about it!), lest they dont want to have their name published.

Ubaydullah:
Well, if you havent realised about this person yet... then just to clearify a bit more... thats me...!

Nizam Abu-Saaleh (NAS):
He is my friend from school. And we been moving together since then. Going to year 9/10, year 11/12 together in the bike... and at the end landing into this BIG ISLAND! He is one of the brightest/smart boys I have ever met, MashaAllaah. I think he was the most organised person among us. You will find his books the neatest and wont let anyone to touch it, lest he puts an unnecessary scratch in his book or bends the cover :-) ... and you find these things with his other things, too... his mobile, PC, table .... He has to have the best thing - or dont worry! He had another amazing quality, he was a living navigation, SubhanAllaah. He can take you anywhere around Melbourne in a shortest path without looking at the map - even if he has gone to that spot once in a dark night. He is very accurate about numbers and dates! MashaAllaah very sharp memory.

Ibn Abi Taalib (IAT):
MashaAllaah he is a mysterious guy with really smart thoughts and plans. Sometimes I see his nick in MSN as "Akti Odvut Chele" (A Strange Boy) and true to his name, he used to come home with all these weirdest stories and ppl that he met on the street or somewhere! He is not one with a huge body figure, but his heart is defenitely a HUGE/GIGANTIC one with big smile in the face. I think the best description for him will be to say that he has his own world, and he loves to realm there with his symphonic thoughts. He wont hurt anyone and he doesnt like to be disturbed when he is on the phone! One thing I have learnt from associating with him is - determination! If you have firm determination, no matter how long it takes, you will get there inshaAllaah!

Din Abul-Qaasim (DAQ):
His nick is/was Cute Hujur or Sweet Hujur - and you can guess his character! He is the youngest of us, hence the name "Cute hujur" and he looks sweet with his beard that he has started to grow - and all the Boro Bhais gave him the name - Sweet Hujur. He is also the BEST cheff around, MashaAllaah. The simplest thing he will cook with utmost sincerity and it will turn out to be the best (other than the HOT chilli that he puts sometimes to make me cry!). And as he was the youngest of all, we all used to love him and liked to make him angry by saying things against his views! Tell him how bad his favourite cricket team played, or add some fuel into it by saying something you dont like about Sylhet!!! But his flashing side of his characteristic is that which many man lack in - patience and modesty. Just to mention here that, we had our roaster of cooking (as every other bangladeshi students who share their accomodation do) and we often missed our days to cook ontime... and he will come home hungry expecting the food to be ready, but alas! Now he has to get fresh, pray his salaat and prepare the food... and then only could he stabilize his rumbling tummy! But even then, he wont say a word (untill it becomes the person's habit to get to reluxed!) to the responsible person rather he will cook for the rest of the brothers!!

Fakhruddin Ar-Raazi (FAR):
He is the poet friend and a very good cook. You can smell his food from around the corner and I have to be honest in saying that we all used to wait for his turn to come to cook! That was a feast!!! To talk about his poetic part - we all wrote poems from time to time { ;-) you know... in those winky age of teen}, but not of the standard of his! MashaAllaah. He had diaries full of poems... and we were so mesmerized by his poems, that we once thought that we will bring out a book or a cassate full of his poems. And the thing is, he used to write for his self setisfaction, to express himself and not to publish or become famous in the eyes of ppl. So, he is a humble guy with honest joy - and you will feel it if you are next to him. There are ups and downs in one's life, and I think the harsh life of this materialistic world has affected us all in one way or the other... I dont know when was the last time he picked up his pen to write another poetry, but the natural him is still intact! He can still think of green as green, blue as blue... and red as red! (I remember from his poems, he used to have colours on them - he had a poem about colourful dreams - Nil Shopno, Lal Shopno ... )
We still havent heard anything from him in regards to the emails I am posting... but I am still waiting... he is following the emails for sure... and he will drop his atomic bomb anytime soon!
I will be cheating if I dont say another aspect of this beautiful man, and that is, his generosity/openhandedness! Anyone and everyone who has associated with him will agree with me that if you have gone out with him he will never look at how much can you contribute to the shout, rather it will end up him going the full amount... and not only that, I remember of incidents where we ate outside somewhere and he ordered one to takeaway, upon enquiry we found that he wants to take that to give to the person who missed out in going with us!! And if he has cooked something for himself, will not eat just by himself but will want to sahre with others even if the amount is little.
